Are Blue Mitted Ragdolls Popular?
The Blue Mitted Ragdoll is a popular choice for families looking for a Ragdoll kitten. Its combination of cool gray coloring, white paws and blue eyes creates a particularly soft and classic appearance.
Some adopters immediately fall in love with the crisp white markings of a bicolor, while others strongly prefer the darker teddy bear face and adorable white paws of the mitted pattern. There really isn’t a “best” Ragdoll pattern. It ultimately comes down to which look you love most!
Are Blue Mitted Ragdolls Rare?
Blue Mitted Ragdolls are not generally considered rare. Blue is one of the traditional Ragdoll colors and mitted is one of the breed’s most established patterns.
However, finding a Blue Mitted Ragdoll kitten at a particular time may depend on the breeding cats in a breeder’s program and the colors and patterns produced in current litters. Availability can also vary by location, so a Blue Mitted kitten may sometimes be harder to find even though the color and pattern itself is not considered rare.
The Grey Ragdoll
Many people who are unfamiliar with official Ragdoll color terminology refer to Blue Mitted Ragdolls as “grey Ragdolls.” This makes perfect sense, since the Ragdoll color known as “blue” actually appears as a soft, cool-toned grey rather than a true blue. While “blue” is the official color term, “grey Ragdoll” is a completely understandable casual description for the beautiful coloring of a Blue Mitted Ragdoll.
What Eye Color Does a Blue Mitted Ragdoll Have?
The Blue Mitted Ragdoll has Blue Eyes. The Ragdoll is a blue-eyed pointed cat breed. The exact shade of blue can vary from one Ragdoll to another, ranging from a lighter blue to a much deeper and more intense shade.
Traditional Ragdolls should not have green, gold or brown eyes. Cats marketed as Ragdolls with non-blue eyes (or described using terms such as mink, sepia or solid) do not fall under the traditional pointed Ragdoll breed standard and may instead be classified within another breed category, such as the Cherubim.

In today’s market, the Price of a Ragdoll Kitten from a reputable breeder is generally around $3,000-$5,500, regardless of whether the kitten is blue, seal or another traditional Ragdoll color.
Show Quality Blue Mitted
According to the Ragdoll Breed Standard, a show quality Blue Mitted Ragdoll should have a white chin that continues into a white belly stripe. The front paws should have matching white mittens, while the back legs should have white extending up to and around the hocks.
The designated pointed areas, including the ears and tail, should not have unwanted white spotting. Small areas of point color within designated white areas or on the paw pads may be allowed.
Altogether, a beautifully marked show quality Blue Mitted Ragdoll should have clean, balanced markings that highlight the contrast between its blue-gray points and snowy white mitted pattern.
Pet Quality Blue Mitted
A pet quality Blue Mitted Ragdoll may have small mismarks or structural characteristics that keep it from meeting the ideal show standard. For example, a Blue Mitted kitten might have a gray chin instead of the desired white chin or an unexpected patch of white within one of the pointed areas.
These little mismarks do not make the kitten any less beautiful or lovable. They simply mean that its markings do not perfectly match the breed standard for showing.

The Blue Mitted and Seal Mitted Ragdoll share the same adorable mitted pattern, including white mittens on the front paws, white boots on the back legs and a white chin. The main difference between the two is their coloring. Seal Mitted Ragdolls have rich, dark brown points that create a bold contrast against their lighter body, while Blue Mitted Ragdolls have softer, cool-toned grey points.
