Purebred Ragdoll kittens come in many beautiful colors and patterns, each one as unique and charming as the next! Ragdolls come in a wide variety of colors, from the classic seal and blue to striking lilac, red, cream, chocolate and tortie shades. Each Ragdoll Kitten is truly one-of-a-kind. Ragdoll Colors

The two main traditional Ragdoll colors are “seal” and “blue”. Blue Ragdolls are genetically the dilute version of Seal Ragdolls, giving them a lighter appearance.

In addition to these two classic shades, Ragdolls can also come in Red, Cream, Tortie, Chocolate and Lilac.

Here’s a quick guide to understanding traditional Ragdoll colors:

• Seal Ragdoll: Deep, rich brown points with a cream-colored body (the “classic” Ragdoll color).

• Blue Ragdoll: Cool, bluish-gray points with a light silvery body.

• Red Ragdoll: Warm orange or flame-colored points.

• Cream Ragdoll: Pale buff version of the red, slightly softer in tone.

• Tortie Ragdoll: A mix of red or cream patches blended with another base color (usually Seal or Blue).

• Chocolate Ragdoll: Medium to light chocolate-brown points with a warm ivory body.

• Lilac Ragdoll: Soft, frosty gray with a subtle pink hue.

Ragdoll Patterns

There are three main traditional Ragdoll patterns:
Bicolor, Mitted and Colorpoint.

• Bicolor Ragdoll: This pattern has white inverted “V” markings on their faces, pink noses and plenty of white on their chests, legs and bellies. They’re typically the most high-contrast pattern.

• Mitted Ragdoll: This pattern looks similar to colorpoints but has adorable white “mittens” on their front paws, white back feet and a white chin and chest. Their noses are typically dark in color.

• Colorpoint Ragdoll: This pattern has no white markings and is overall the darkest Ragdoll pattern. They lack the white mittens and white chins. Their points (ears, mask, legs and tail) are fully colored and their nose leather matches their point color.

The Lynx Ragdoll

Some Ragdolls also carry the Lynx (Tabby) Pattern, which appears as stunning striping or banding over their fur. This lynx overlay can appear in any color or pattern, and a few examples include:

• Blue Lynx Bicolor: Cool bluish-gray tabby points with crisp white markings and a silvery body.

• Seal Lynx Bicolor: Rich brown tabby points with bright white markings and a warm cream-colored body.

• Cream Lynx Bicolor: Soft buff tabby points with white markings and a light, peachy cream body.

• Red Lynx Bicolor: Warm flame-colored tabby points with white markings and a creamy white body.

• Seal Torbie* Bicolor: Rich seal tabby points blended with red patches, plus bright white markings.

• Blue Torbie* Bicolor: Soft blue tabby points blended with cream patches, plus crisp white markings.

• Blue Lynx Mitted: Cool bluish-gray tabby points with white mittens, chin and belly.

True Ragdolls Are Always Pointed

True, purebred Ragdolls are pointed cats. This means their ears, face, legs and tail are darker than the rest of their body.

They also have blue eyes only.

If you see cats advertised as Solid, Sepia or Mink, or with green or gold eyes, these are not traditional Ragdolls and they do not conform to the official Ragdoll Breed Standard as recognized by TICA and CFA. These variations are actually instead called Cherubims.

All Ragdolls Are Born White

All traditional Ragdolls are Born Completely White. Their color and pattern start to peek through on the ears and tail within just a few days of birth and continue to darken as the kitten matures.

A Ragdoll’s coat color usually takes up to 3-4 years to fully develop, so your kitten’s shade will continue to change and deepen as they grow.
